This coin is part of a series on water and the global warming minted in 2009, when Turkey hosted the 5th World Water Forum.

Reverse: Image of a woman’s face symbolizing fertility and drought with an inscription (in Turkish) “Water is the source of life”. The inscription is positioned along the coin’s rim in the leftmost segment.

Obverse: Inscriptions (in Turkish) “Global Warming is Threatening our World”, “Turkish Republic”, and “50 Turkish Lira” accompanied by a symbol of the global warming (the globe surrounded by sun rays) in the topmost segment and the symbol of the Turkish Republic (star and crescent) in the lower segment.
